- This is a high-impact role designed for an experienced engineer ready to influence the long-term direction of a fast-growing, AI-driven technology platform. You will work across multiple engineering teams, owning projects that span backend, frontend, and data pipelines while driving architectural improvements and standardization. Your work will directly impact both commercial outcomes and the scalability of the engineering organization. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and remote-first, emphasizing ownership, technical excellence, and innovation. This role requires strategic thinking, hands-on technical expertise, and the ability to mentor and guide other engineers to deliver enterprise-grade solutions. Ideal candidates are self-directed leaders with deep technical knowledge and a passion for building reliable, large-scale systems.
Accountabilities
- Lead and execute cross-team engineering projects, ensuring alignment with long-term organizational goals.
- Improve backend stability, inter-service testing, and overall engineering standards across multiple teams.
- Work end-to-end on the tech stack, from client-facing applications to backend services, ensuring reliability and performance.
- Break down complex problems into deliverable steps and iterate to validate solutions.
- Mentor senior engineers and facilitate knowledge sharing across teams.
- Evaluate the impact of features on commercial objectives and pivot strategies when necessary.
- Shape the architecture and engineering capabilities for future growth over 12–18 months.
- 10+ years of experience as a software engineer, with at least 2 years at a Principal or Senior Staff level.
- Proven experience leading projects across multiple engineering teams (50+ engineers).
- Expertise in backend development and full-stack systems, with strong knowledge of server-side technologies.
- Experience building enterprise-grade SaaS products; familiarity with AI-powered systems is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to operate in high-performing engineering organizations at scale.
- Strong commercial awareness and ability to align technical work with business objectives.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- Hands-on experience with distributed systems, microservices, and modern software engineering best practices.
- Competitive base salary (EUR/GBP/CHF 160,000+) with stock option plan.
- Fully remote role within Europe, UK, or Switzerland.
- 25 days of leave plus local holidays.
