Project Overview We are developing an Innovation Center focused on polyester textile waste recycling, dedicated to advancing thermo-mechanical recycling technologies and integrating novel bolt-on process innovations that can enhance fiber recovery, material quality, and energy efficiency. The goal is to establish a world-class R&D roadmap and technical blueprint for a Polyester Recycling Innovation Hub, combining research, pilot-scale demonstration, and industrial collaboration. Scope of Work The selected expert or team will support the conceptualization and documentation of the Innovation Center, covering both technical and organizational aspects. The work will include: 1. R&D Roadmap Development • Identification of key research areas and technologies (e.g., thermo-mechanical recycling, polymer recovery and upgrading, fiber re-extrusion, additive formulations). • Definition of bolt-on technologies to enhance the recycling process (e.g., automated sorting, melt filtration, decolorization, additives for chain length restoration). • Multi-year R&D roadmap with clear milestones, TRLs (Technology Readiness Levels), and expected outcomes. • Strategic alignment with sustainability goals, regulatory frameworks, and circular economy principles. 2. Innovation Center Concept Design • Conceptual layout and functional design of the center (laboratories, pilot zones, analysis units, training spaces). • Definition of required infrastructure and utilities (energy, ventilation, safety systems). • Guidance on workflow optimization for research, prototyping, and testing activities. 3. Pilot Equipment and Technology Integration • Specification of pilot-scale equipment and modular systems for thermo-mechanical recycling. • Benchmarking of existing technologies and equipment suppliers. • Recommendations for instrumentation, testing, and quality control tools. • Conceptual process flow diagrams and equipment selection reports. 4. Documentation and Deliverables • Comprehensive Innovation Center Master Plan (technical and operational blueprint). • R&D roadmap report with detailed project stages, partners, and investment requirements. • Equipment list and technical datasheets for pilot units. • Implementation guidelines for setup and commissioning. Desired Expertise We are seeking professionals or teams with experience in: • Polyester or plastic recycling R&D (especially thermo-mechanical recycling and polymer reprocessing). • Process engineering, materials science, or mechanical design for recycling systems. • Design and planning of pilot plants or innovation centers. • Familiarity with sustainability assessments, LCA, and circular economy strategies.
