- Job Summary
- Keyrus is looking for a Data Governance Consultant to help us with a client that is a global leader in chemical and ingredient distribution, and is establishing its Data Governance practice to strengthen data management and compliance across the organisation.
- The company already has a capable technical team of data engineers and AI specialists; the current priority is to build governance foundations — policies, frameworks, and organisational adoption — rather than implement technical solutions.
- We now need experienced Data Governance Consultants to guide and support the design and institutionalisation of data governance principles, operating models, and best practices across the business.
- The engagement is part of a broader initiative focused on organisational enablement and data accountability, aligned with ISO 27001 standards and global governance expectations.
- This position is a remote position, based in Portugal.
- Note: All applications/CV’s must be submitted in English.
- Key Responsibilities
- Support in defining and implementing the enterprise Data Governance Framework, including roles, processes, and policies.
- Collaborate with business and data leaders to embed governance practices across organisational domains.
- Educate and enable stakeholders, fostering a shared understanding of data ownership, stewardship, and quality management.
- Lead awareness and training sessions, promoting data literacy and a governance-first culture.
- Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations and documentation to articulate governance strategies, principles, and progress.
- Provide guidance on data catalogue tool selection (evaluating Collibra, Informatica, and Alation), ensuring alignment with Brenntag’s business context and maturity level.
- Advise on best practices for data classification, data quality monitoring, and policy compliance, focusing on ISO 27001 principles.
- Work closely with the Data Governance Lead to support roadmap execution and stakeholder alignment.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between business, IT, and compliance teams to operationalise governance activities.
- Requirements for the role
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Information Governance roles.
- Strong background in defining and implementing governance frameworks within large, international organisations.
- Proven ability to educate, engage, and influence stakeholders at all organisational levels.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of articulating complex topics in a clear and business-oriented way.
- Experience with data catalogue tools (Collibra, Informatica, Alation, or similar).
- Familiarity with data management best practices, data quality principles, and compliance frameworks (ISO 27001 preferred).
- Highly organised, pragmatic, and self-driven, able to operate with minimal supervision.
- Collaborative mindset with the ability to build trust and drive cultural change.
- Fluent in English
- Must be a Portuguese or European citizen or have a work permit for Portugal
